1. People

People are a business’s greatest asset; to use a well-trodden metaphor, your people are the heartbeat, without which you wouldn’t survive. Sadly, over the last decade or so people aspects within a business have often been overlooked. This is not about typical HR processes but more how do you ensure your people make the boat go faster. Having a great leadership team is the difference, as all employees want to feel empowered, supported and engaged. If asked what they like about a role, 90% of employees will state that it’s the leaders they have worked for that has made the difference, not the business itself.

Fact – Good leaders power your vision & mission, they set strategy and constantly drive culture through core values aligned to a business.

Leaders instil confidence across the business and empower their teams to live and breathe what makes you unique. Ciyga describes leaders, as conductors, they are there to lead the ensemble. Their primary role is to guide, so that everyone plays together, keeps the correct tempo, and follows the dynamics of the music.

Our first task is to assess your leadership team, ensuring they are right for your ensemble, attention then turns to your biggest asset, your employees, without which you won’t survive. All too often, we see businesses that have forgotten the need to constantly focus on personal development, talent spotting, soft benefits and engaging with all employees to ensure your boat can go faster.

Fact – How often do you see that People who don’t have a clear direction, become distracted, disconnected and disillusioned with their role – none of which is great for business growth.

Without people to drive the ambitions of any business you can apply as many processes and adopt as much technology as you like but it will never reach its true potential.

2. Process

Once you have the right people in the right seats, can you turn your attention to developing and refining your “processes”. We see many businesses that have neglected the importance of having a well-defined and clear process. Many see them as a hindrance, a chore or blocker to doing business rather than an enabler to growth. We use the term clear process because when they are unclear, overly complex, or not embedded in daily routines, your people struggle to see the value and often try to work around them or avoid them altogether.

People within any business need to see how following a certain process or set of processes benefits their role, their customers, or the business as a whole. If the perception is that the process doesn’t make their role easier, faster, or more meaningful, it’s always seen as friction rather than support.

Processes need to be constantly refined as businesses grow, otherwise they actually slow growth potential. When starting out, a simple process often held in the owner’s head satisfies, but as you grow and more people become engaged in the fulfilment of the process or processes, the harder it becomes.

Fact– How often do you see a process that has been refined and invested in really flourishing and driving growth, only to be held back by another process that has been ill-defined or had little investment? Ultimately, a poor process top-trumps a flourishing process and has the ability to bring any growth to a standstill.

Processes are therefore a fundamental pillar to success, and a key ingredient to any growth aspiration; if clearly defined and delivered well, they drive business growth. We therefore spend at least 2-3 months helping define and refine your processes to build for the future

3. Technology

Technology can be referred to as the application of IT. It’s a set of tools, techniques, scientific knowledge and software systems that solve everyday problems, accomplish tasks, and achieve certain objectives.

Technology has long played a pivotal role in streamlining how a business operates, improving processes, reducing admin costs and thus increasing bottom line growth. Huge strides have taken place over the last few decades as computing and all that it offers have transformed the way in which we all work.

That said, technology itself is not the golden ticket to success, as a seasoned professional working across technology for over 30 years will tell me without having relevant People in place to make change happen or as set of well- defined Processes capable of ensuring Technology can streamline you will never gain momentum.

Fact- How many failed projects have you seen whereby a piece of Technology has been acquired to make change happen and it has either not worked, or you’ve never seen the benefits because it wasn’t adopted by your People or wasn’t implemented correctly because it didn’t map to your existing Process?

We see it more than ever currently with AI, many AI businesses will tell you that they can fix everything with AI or automation, simply give us your business and we will have it all fixed with admin time down by half in 6- 8 weeks.

Fact- AI will have a lasting impact on society over the next 5 years and it will drive improvements across many areas of a business, but currently it’s not a one stop shop. Time needs to be taken in the first instance to understand what is the problem/s you are trying to fix. Failure to understand what problem you are looking to fix will always leads to an increase in cost and issues elsewhere within a business.

It’s like buying the most expensive washing machine, getting it home only to realise you have no plumbing in place

Technologies that integrate analytics and reporting providing real-time visibility into performance metrics. Dashboards and reporting blocks enabling businesses to track progress, set goals, and adjust strategies quickly.

Artificial Intelligence is increasingly becoming part of the growth team. By turning data into actionable insights, AI helps optimise sales performance and predict trends, ensuring organisations stay competitive and agile in dynamic markets.
