I have run my own business since 2019 and steadily seen growth every year. In 2023 the business took a turn for the worst, with sales dropping and EBITDA profit starting to evaporate. I was frustrated, concerned, anxious and didn’t know what to do for the best. I was introduced to Ciyga and was impressed with the overall approach they presented in terms of People, Process & Technology, and their experience in helping businesses grow. It was a huge decision for me to engage Ciyga as it was a significant investment, and I was still nervous about the future. Over the first month Ciyga introduced a revised Vision, Mission and set of Core Values alongside a 3-year strategy and sales playbook to be adopted by all sales personnel. We then started a new financial year and over the first month, sales improved considerably and after 3 months we have hit a record month for sales and are on track for the best first quarter we have ever had. Ciyga have also focused the team on assessing individual deals to improve profit margins which have resulted in our margins increasing by over 3% which in an FMCG industry where margins are typically single digit is significant.

I reached a crossroads with my business in 2021. I had spent 15 years successfully building the business, employing approx. 9 staff but wanted to take it to the next level. I had spoken to several business consultants but none of them really gave me the confidence to move forward. I’d known Anthony for a number of years and knew he had been successful at growing businesses throughout his career. Initially, he spent time understanding what the next level meant for me and after initial discussions, I took the plunge and engaged Anthony as a Non-Executive Director. Immediately he spent time understanding the People and building a 5-year strategy. Melo is an amalgamation of four businesses brought together to support the financial planning profession in building better businesses.
As successful businesses we knew there would be benefits in securing a Non-Executive Director prior to launch. An individual who had walked in our shoes, was aligned to our culture & core values & who had the relevant skills & experience to help us achieve our ultimate end game.
We wanted someone for the long haul and the qualities we saw in Anthony were ideal. He always ensures we put the interests of the business front and centre & challenges the decisions we make to ensure we remain focussed on driving the business forward.
He provides an external lens that keeps us disciplined and offers objectivity, with a steely focus on results.
